We are so excited to have moved into our new home! We have been looking forward to this move for the past few years. While the home where we brought all our kids’ home from the hospital will always be very special, we were needing more space. Once we moved in I realized just how much we needed to outfit our new space, so I set out to find affordable home essentials to take care of all we needed including linens, towels, pillows, and other fun things and was so excited to find a lot of affordable things on sale at Kohl’s!
This post is sponsored by Kohl’s. I was paid for this post and received the included home goods as compensation, however, all opinions are my own.
The first room we tackled was our master bedroom. The king-sized pillows we had been using were flat and we needed new linens for our bed as well. I found the softest set of sheets from The Big One that are jersey material and they not only fit my bed perfectly, they are so comfortable!
I picked out new pillows that are filled with down illusion and I have to say that I am completely obsessed! I haven’t heard of down illusion, but it’s the comfort of down but without the potential for allergies! These Serta pillows are like sleeping on a cloud…literally! Besides, is there anything better than new pillows and sheets? I also saw a new mattress cover from Columbia that I think I’m going to have to go back to get to bring even more comfort to our bed!
Another one of the affordable home essentials I was looking for was accent pillows. They can really help finish off a space! I have been on the hunt for white faux fur accent pillows, and I finally found the perfect pair from The Big One. They complete my bedding and are so soft! They are perfect for relaxing, enjoying my coffee and doing some planning for the blog.
One thing that wasn’t originally on my list but I was thrilled to find was this cozy blush pink throw. It has metallic gold dots on one side, and soft pink fur on the other side. It matches the white pillow with pink trim that I’ve had, and I think it really pulls things together in my room. I can never seem to leave Kohl’s without picking up things that weren’t on my list…there’s so much to choose from and sometimes you just need to treat yourself!
We needed new towels for two of our bathrooms, so I was certainly in the mindset of looking for affordable home essentials because towels for multiple bathrooms can add up quickly. We’ve been using the same towels we received as wedding gifts 12 years ago! They were not only tattered, but I wanted a clean fresh look with our linens in our master bathroom. I found white towels from The Big One that give our bathroom a nice crisp look and they feel so soft and luxurious!
Our five kids have previously been sharing one bathroom, with this move we gained an additional bathroom for them, so we needed new towels for the boy’s bathroom. I chose a fun blue color and was delighted to find they had matching towels, hand towels, wash towels, and bath mats! I also picked up a soap dispenser and toothbrush holder that is perfect for their bathroom.
The last thing I knew I wanted was a fresh new doormat. Mohawk has so many to choose from, but I loved this one because it is cheerful, and the colors are the perfect combination to go from summer to fall. I’m dying to decorate my new front porch for fall and have already started getting out my pumpkins. Kohl’s, by the way, has so many options for fall décor, too!
I’m so thankful Kohl’s is having their White Sale (from August 22nd to September 3rd) because it really saved us a lot! It was fun sharing a little sneak peek of a few of the rooms in our new home, and how we are finding affordable home essentials to finish things off. I want our home to be comfortable and welcoming to anyone who comes to visit, and I hope it will always be the hub for our family and our kids’ friends.
