When the holidays roll around one of the beverages that immediately comes to mind is Eggnog and with good reason! Eggnog is a flavorful mixture of eggs, cream, milk, sugar, and spices. Eggnog is popular around the world in varying forms and remains a favorite in the United States and in our own home, even my kids love to partake in a little holiday cheer so I set up a festive eggnog bar with lots of holiday treats. I’m excited to share this fun idea with you that is perfect for a party or for everyday fun during the holidays!
To celebrate our first Christmas in our new home, I set up this fun eggnog bar for the kids. I love decorating my new bar cart, it will be so fun to think of fun ways to use it throughout the year! If you’ve followed me for long, you know I love parties, you know I love entertaining, and you know I love festive activities with my kids. I hope my kids will have wonderful memories as they grow up of mom putting together fun things like this.
I went the easy route by using store-bought eggnog but you could easily make it yourself. There are a plethora of great recipes available online. I poured it into a resealable glass bottle and added a festive bow for a pop of color. If I were doing this for a full party I would pop it into an ice bucket so it could stay out longer since it needs to be refrigerated.
I added a tray with compartments to include fun toppings like whipped cream, gingerbread sprinkles, chocolate hazelnut wafers, gingerbread cookies, cinnamon sugar, cinnamon sticks, and ginger crisps. You could add colorful sprinkles, candy canes or colored sugar as well. Let your imagination run wild! And while I broke out some fancy glass goblets for my husband and me to use, I use some festive holiday straws and simple white plastic cups for the kids.
We all really enjoyed our eggnog treats and the kids really loved creating their own concoctions from the variety of toppings and accompaniments. Added bonus?? I got to use the leftover eggnog in my morning coffee! YUM!
For an adults-only treat or party, you can also offer distilled spirits such as brandy, rum, whiskey or bour
