My kids woke up on Christmas morning with the most amazing surprise. Once everyone was awake, we explained that Santa Claus brought two very special gifts for my 3-year-old son and my 5-year-old daughter. All five of my kids came running into the living room to see what Santa had brought them. I will never forget the look on their faces when they saw the shiny black Mercedes ML63 ride on, and the white Disney Princess 12 Volt VW Beetle sitting by the Christmas tree. My son ran straight to his new car in shock. He stood on his little tippy toes so he could get a glance at every detail. My big boys, distracted from their own new toys, ran over to show their little brother how to open the doors. He jumped right in and I heard squeals of joy as the engine roared and the lights came on. It was truly a moment to remember. All the while, my daughter immediately jumped in her new car and grabbed her new best friend, her stuffed unicorn, to sit right next to her. With her voice at a higher decibel from all the excitement, she named off all the princesses she saw on her new ride and exclaimed: “Mommy it even has pink seats”. The Mercedes Ride On Cars and Disney Princess 12 Volt VW Beetle stole the show on Christmas morning and now they are racing into the New Year with Kid Trax.
You may have seen my Ultimate Gift Guide post before Christmas that outlines why I chose Kid Trax, and I’m excited to give my full review now that they kids have had a few weeks to utilize their new ride-on toys. First of all, let’s talk assembly. My husband put these cars together within a couple of hours before Christmas. The Princess Car was actually slightly damaged during shipping and Toys R Us was so wonderful to switch it out for us. The assembly was something my husband could handle on his own and while it took a few hours, that’s to be expected for any worthwhile toy like this.
The Disney Princess 12 Volt VW Beetle is so realistic. It has working doors and lights, an FM Radio, and a MP3 player hook up. The windshield is translucent and it’s appropriate for age 3 to 7 so my daughters will be able to enjoy this for many years to come. It runs in two speeds and reverse, which is great for when your kids range in age. It also has a specialized traction system so these cars will work on all sorts of terrain. There’s a 12 V rechargeable battery and a wall charger, and it has a light to indicate when the battery is low…a huge plus for busy moms! And of course, it has some of her favorite Disney Princess characters on the hood and doors, and she loves the pink seats!
My daughter crashed into my car a few days after Christmas and broke the front light. I spoke to the Kid Trax Customer Service and they were so wonderful to send a replacement light immediately so she didn’t have to miss out on enjoying her new gift. I’ve been so impressed with their friendliness, attention to detail, and their excellent customer service!
The Mercedes ML63 ride on is a-dorable! It has a painted chrome grill, rims, and a Mercedes Emblem on the hood, just like the real thing. My sweet boy LOVES the engine and horn sound it makes. Like the Princess Car, it has real working doors, translucent windows, and it goes 2.5 MPH and 5 MPH forward, and 2.5 MPH reverse, along with that specialized traction system. The back hatch opens, and there’s an MP3 player hook up and an FM radio. It’s the perfect size to fit two of my boys, and to be honest my seven and eight-year-old love it just as much as little brother! I love the black sleek look of it…I’m a little jealous of his ride!
My kids have been asking daily to ride their cars and I’m so excited about having these year round to keep us playing outside and enjoying the great outdoors! We had so much fun loading up the cars and taking them to a nearby area to race them. Can you guess who won the race? Well, they actually both think they won and I don’t mind that at all! Take a look at this video we had so much fun making!
