My mantel creates such a statement as it is, so I like to keep it pretty clean throughout the year but decided it would be fun to dress it up for spring. You might remember from my neutral living room reveal, we renovated the fireplace and mantel to create a limestone look with updated marble tile and a gorgeous antiqued mirror. This process created a gorgeous, stand out fireplace and hearth that makes me so happy to see every day.
As I was perusing Pinterest for ideas, I came across these gorgeous spring mantel ideas from A Brick Home and thought with an addition of fresh flowers it would be perfect for my mantel. I set out to find a base of faux flowers and I pulled together a mixture of white, green, and pink hanging berry stems. I also used some green stems with different shades of green and various textures (bamboo leaves, amaranthus stems, and weeping fern stems).
I started with the base of faux flowers and placed each stem on the mantel. I was glad that I didn’t have to anchor them since I overlapped each stem, and they stayed in place without an issue. I varied the heights of the hanging pieces to create some dimension. The mantel is beautiful with just this layer and it would be fine to stay this way for the duration of the spring! However, I love to mix in fresh flowers to give the illusion that the entire mantel is made up of fresh flowers. It really is hard to tell from a distance that the entire mantel is not fresh flowers. I had several friends over the day I put this together and they loved it!
I filled water picks with water and put fresh white roses and hyacinths (courtesy of one of the BEST florists in town, Tipton & Hurst). The fresh flowers bring a delightful aroma and provide a touch of life to our living room. Coupled with fresh hydrangeas in ginger jars around the room and my living room is ready for spring. After feeling a little bare the past two months since Christmas was put away, I am thrilled to have some pops of color and florals in our living room. Stay tuned for the Spring Home Tour post tomorrow where I’ll share more details on how I changed out some decor in this room to create a fresh take on spring decor.
